Mercury in Eleventh House

MercuryMercury: If Mercury is lord of this place, or is present and dignified or received, then it show those who successfully make a living from writing, speaking, counseling, technology, or professorship. Rob Hand made the observation that astrologers often have Mercury either ruling the acquisition or present there. [66] This makes sense because astologers are a specific type of counselor. Alliances will tend to be unstable or at least changable and are more geared towards intellectual exchange without the associated warmth of most social gatherings. This instability may carry over into finances as well, but this is less likely with a well dignified or received Mercury. (Keep in mind that Valens considered the 11th place from the lot of fortune to be more potent a significator than the natal 11th house [67]). But if Mercury is lord of this place and in debility or afflicted, it may show those who have difficulty at making a living or are indigent, those who consort with the criminally minded, or are the victim of such.
