Sun in Twelfth House

SunSun: When the Sun is in this place, it is sometimes the case that the native does not know his/her father, especially if the Sun is in debility or afflicted. According to Paulus: "...it indicates that the father lives abroad, or else orphanhood. And it afflicts the father with suffering, injury, or banishment ... poverty, ill-repute, or low birth". [78] This is also one of the indicators that the father may pass away before the mother, but this cannot be taken as proof alone. I know of at least one contradictory example of this: George W. Bush, with Leo rising and the Sun in Cancer, fits this profile, but his father does not match the description at all. I myself have problems with the Sun representing the father, for if it were the case that it did, my father should be the leader of a country, because the Sun is so disposed in my chart, yet he is a farmer and prefers obscurity. Personally, I prefer to use the lot of the father, as it is a much more individualized point than the Sun which is seasonal. It seems that there is one defining trait, the ability to get beyond ones ego and act as a channel for others because they are able to set their ego aside. It is also possible that one may waver not being conscious of their true purpose in life. These natives may also lack expressiveness, unless Leo or Aries is rising. If the Sun is dignified, in sect or received then expect the more positive side of this placement and vice versa.
